Play Time

Marcus is not too excited about tummy time. His preferred mode of play is on his back. He's getting pretty good at holding toys in the air and playing with them, or chewing on them :) He spends a few minutes on his belly before he's tired of it, we're getting better.

Two Teeth

Marcus is 5 months and has his first two teeth. They're pretty hard to see in this picture. But trust me they're there and they're sharp!! We're adjusting to nursing with teeth. It's not going well for either of us. Every time he bites me while nursing I let out a yelp. It HURTS! Sometimes he thinks it's funny and some times he cries. The lactation consultant has suggested hugging him to me to close off his air supply to his nose which would make him open his mouth. Pretty barbaric right? I'm telling you the first instinct when getting bitten in the nipple is not to pull the offender closer to it! We've tried it once and he just bit down harder. I'm going to keep yelping each time he does it and hope that he can start making a connection.

Halloween 2009

We didn't do anything on Halloween - we didn't even hand out candy. There was 2 feet of snow out front - I wasn't expecting a big turnout. We closed the drapes turned off the lights and watched a movie. I put him in this adorable costume yesterday. He wasn't very happy about it until I got out his favorite toy 'doggie'. Then I got some smiles.

It's a hand me down costume of a lamb or sheep. I'm not sure. I've had it hanging in the closet for almost a year. I've been looking forward to getting him in it pink ribbon and all :)
I couldn't get the velcro to come together under his chin. He was so mad I didn't want to make it worse! So I just left it open. Finally smiles - thank goodness for doggie.

October Snow

We had 2 days of snow last week. It was so nice. It happened on my days off and Matt worked from home. So we could enjoy the weather without stressing about driving anywhere. I made some spicy green chili. Which tasted great - but maybe wasn't the best idea for food when we're all cooped up together for 3 days.
Marcus was unimpressed. I put his hand in the snow and he just stared at me. I think the snow suit was a little small too - so he was just ready to get inside and out of that thing!

Matt shoveled the drive and sidewalk. On the left side of the pic below (between the trees) you can see a man with a snow blower. He did the sidewalks up and down our street. The snow was heavy and wet so he got bogged down a little. It was so nice of him.

WVU Game

We took Marcus to watch the WVU game last week. The alumni go to the same bar each week. Since there is no smoking allowed anywhere in Colorado it doesn't seem so bad to have a baby in a bar. Plus there was a 4 week old at the next table. But it got so loud with cheering that we had to leave. Marcus put up with a lot of noise - and didn't complain too much about it. We enjoyed getting to visit with friends for a bit though. Marcus even got to try on Eric's coon skin hat :)

New Lights

I found these paper lanterns and thought they would be the perfect alternative to a mobile. (those things are so expensive!!) It took me some effort to get them installed but I think they look GREAT!! Marcus was not as impressed as I was hoping. Matt humored me with a 'good job'. I think I have enough excitement for all of us :)
The only thing Marcus cares about in this room is that turtle on the side of his crib. He loves it. The rest is just for me :)Yes they are the lights for the room too!!! It took me the better part of a day but they work!Matt hung these shelves for me last month or so.

It's cooling off here and I have an excuse to put Marcus in this hat that I loooove (Thank you Jessie!) The mittens are hilarious because his thumbs never made into the place designed for them!! Fun stuff dressing a baby.

My sister gave Marcus this activity mat. It's filled with water and little floaty animals. He loves it - he'll even look at it longingly from a few feet away. Thanks Aunt Holly :)

Cereal with Dad

It's hard to pick who to watch in this video. Matt is 'helping' with each bite. Funny!!
